April Ross
April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players to have won medals multiple times at an Olympics. In Tokyo over the next several days, she'll try to win her third gold medal with fellow first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic gold medal. Perhaps it is her last chance at winning, as she's 39 old. Nevertheless, she remains confident of achieving top honours. Ross stated via NBC Boston: "If we try our best, and even playing well I believe we can be able to win gold." Additionally, I'm going be relying on a little bit of good luck. Ross born August 22, 1982, at Costa Mesa California. She resided there along with her entire family. The athletic pursuits she pursued began at Newport Harbor High School where she participated in several sports. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball, as well as basketball, running and track. Though she excelled in indoor volleyball, it was clear that her skills were above the average. Her college biography states that she was an outside-hitting hitter, middle blocker and setter in her volleyball playing career at high school. The results of her efforts were acknowledged in 1999 when she was named Gatorade's Circle of Champions National players of the year. Her skills in volleyball won her an Orange County Athlete of the Year award in the year 2000. Ross and Klineman began their partnership in 2017, but Ross had been a beach-scene player for years prior to. Actually Ross has won a number of significant tournaments during her time along with her two teammates. One of them is a legend. From 2007 to 2013 she was in a partnership by Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be strong on the world circuit, winning the 2009 World Championship with each other. In 2012, the duo won silver at London's Olympic Games. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor clinched gold ahead of them. Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she announced her retirement. The pair went on to earn bronze in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross played for the USC Trojans in college years after she graduated in high school. The time she spent at USC was awe-inspiring. As a freshman in 2000 she played her way to Pac-10 and NCAA The Freshman of the Year accolades. She also was also an All-American. She also helped the Trojans to make it to into the Final Four. She endured a great personal loss in her sophomore, however, she was successful in achieving the All-American distinction. In her final two seasons with the Trojans they helped to win two consecutive titles. In her own way, she cemented her place in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award is given to the most outstanding female college volleyball players in the nation. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross did not see her daughter make it to the top of beach volleyball. Ross suffered the loss of the breast cancer that she battled in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. However, she keeps her parent close to his heart. Margie remains a constant source of inspiration to her, both at and off the beaches.
